Game Design & Character Concept
Overview
Sweet Dreams is a 2D side-scroller action RPG for mobile devices (Android & iOS), where players take on the role of brave stuffed animals fighting to protect their young owner from the monsters in her dreams. The game features both solo and multiplayer modes, and players work together to battle through nightmare levels and restore peaceful sleep.
Story
Inspired by my own childhood nightmares and love for stuffed animals, Sweet Dreams follows a 6-year-old girl who struggles with nightly fears—clowns, spiders, ghosts, the dark, and even vegetables. Her loyal stuffed animals, tired of seeing her wake up crying, come to life in her dreams to fight off the scary creatures and bring back her sweet dreams. Players must defeat waves of nightmare monsters before the girl wakes up, or the level is lost.

Playable Characters:
Kitty (Red Cat): Ranged fighter with a water rifle gun

Character Design & Abilities
I designed character sheets for each playable character, detailing their attack types, ability cooldowns, and level-up progression from Level 1 to Level 25. Each character has 5 abilities to choose from, encouraging players to experiment with different combat styles and strategies.
Visual & Prototype Development
Created in-game level renderings, including the Level 1 enemy: Brussel Sprouts
Developed a character concept sheet for each hero: Doggie, Kitty, Bunbun, and Rey
Produced a paper prototype video to showcase game flow and mechanics, helping visualize player interactions and transitions between levels

Personal Motivation
This project is especially close to my heart. As a child, I often experienced vivid nightmares, but I always found comfort in my stuffed animals. Even now, I still keep the same plush friends from when I was 5 years old. Designing this game allowed me to turn those childhood fears into a creative, playful experience that others can enjoy, while celebrating the warmth and bravery we find in our childhood companions.
